Vaping Break Week Two: The Aspire Nautilus Tank verses the Kanger Aerotank
Ok! Let’s talk adjustable air flow! With all the buzz about the Aspire Nautilus and its new competitor the Kanger Aerotank, and now the Aerotank Mini and Mega, I thought it would be a good time to discus the two and see the pro’s and cons of each tank! So lets!
First off, what is so special about adjustable air flow? What is this little dial going to do and why is it so cool? It’s important to distinguish one simple fact; adjustable airflow is not the same as adjustable vapor flow!
By adjusting the amount of air flowing through your tank you can adjust the draw you get from your tank. For example, low airflow means you will have to pull harder to get your vapor from the tank, more airflow means easier draw. It’s the difference between using a giant slurpy straw and a skinny straw. This means that when your airflow is set to the max then you will be getting more air in your vapor and more air to your coils. If you've ever vaped a rebuild able tank then you know the importance of getting air to your coils. Just like fuel to the fire, your coils need air!
Alright so what’s the difference? “A few bucks?” No! It’s so much more than that!
When you’re talking Nautilus you’re talking three major factors that set it apart from any tank on the market: capacity, vapor production and style! We are talking, 5 whole mil’s of juice! That’s like a car with a 50 gallon tank! You’re never going to have to refill this bad boy! And when we say 5ml, we mean the full five! This tank can be filled to the brim. And I don’t know what they are doing with the coils over there at Aspire but the vapor production on this tank is epic. Massive clouds, great flavor, and control over the density of the vapor you are getting? Game changer! And Style, this thing looks like something out of a 1950’s sci-fi movie! With its domed top and open airy tank it looks there should be a brain floating around in there!
The nautilus tank, never floods, never leaks, never fails. It’s my trusted and tested go to tank! And it is close to my happy vaping little heart!
The cons of this tank are hard to find. One small issue for some is that with a tank this big, your going to need a bigger mod! If you have an EVOD battery, this tank is going to look ridiculous. A bigger issue is although the glass tank enables you to use any kind of liquid without having to worry about acidity problems, it is vulnerable to damage! The domed design that looks so cool is also a weakness. Because the glass is not flush with the surrounding metal that does leave the top of your glass tank unprotected against knocking up against things. This is the most hazardous if you like to carry your mod in your back pocket!
Originally the Kanger Aerotank had some small design flaws. It was too similar to the Protank, (same heads, occasional flooding and leaking) and the air control wasn't quite on point. The airflow dial was a four whole system that controlled the airflow by twisting a dial over the wholes more or less. This immediately became an issue for me! The control was not precise and I couldn't feel any clear distinction in the airflow. But then this happened…
Oh me oh my! What is this? It's sleek, it’s fashionable, it’s futuristic… I’m so into this! Kanger has definitely broken the mold with this beauty! Introducing the Kanger Aerotank Mega! With a massive 3.5ml capacity, a newly designed mystery coil and airflow control this is a true contender! They have truly thought of everything this time around.
Kanger has wisely evaluated the few shortcomings of the Nautilus tank and did everything they could to one up the only tank that can compete with this new Mega.
My favorite things about this tank are everyone’s favorite things about this tank: Sleek design, metal tube option instead of glass that comes with your tank, a change in the airflow control and a brand new improved coil!
If the Aspire Nautilus is the Cadillac of tanks then the Kanger Aerotank is the Mercedes of tanks. Not quite as big, but still full of luxury! The new airflow control design futures one elongated triangular vent whole, with a slide that controls how much of that whole is open. (Pictures to follow) This new design keeps your options open and you can feel the difference.
Kanger really went the extra mile and solved the one problem that keeps the Nautilus out of reach of some users… they came out this cheeky little counterpart: The Kanger Aerotank MINI!
Yeah that’s right, mini! As in for your Ego, your Kgo, your Evod, your iTaste VV 3.0, your Vision Spinner, your Vshare (do you have this? If not, why not?), basically, if you're a stick battery kind of Vaper then this is the tank for you! All the punch in your mouth of the new Aerotank design in a nice neat little package, perfect for in your pocket/on the go versatility!
All the futures of the Mega: Metal sleeve option, airflow control, redesigned coil, in an awesome little package!
As far as cons go… I’m coming up short. Keeping in mind that this is a brand new tank and has not been fully tested against where and tare; this seems to be everything you were hoping for in a tank.
So who is the winner? Hm... I will always be partial to the Nautilus tank. But my eyes are open to Kanger in a way they were not before!
What do you think? What would you like to see in a perfect tank? Who is the winner of this battle?
